Quintiles has expanded its capacity in Africa with the opening of an office in Nairobi, Kenya. A team of locally-based clinical professionals will monitor throughout East Africa, enhancing Quintiles capability to provide clinical research services across the continent.
They will complement the work done by Quintiles Ghana office, which opened in June 2009, and Quintiles established offices in South Africa, with a focus on endemic diseases such as malaria, TB and HIV. Future possibilities for additional clinical research include studies in areas of growing disease prevalence such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer.
Jeff Thomis, President of Core Clinical comments: “Expansion into our 60th country is a significant milestone that showcases how Quintiles’ breadth and agility can help customers succeed in The New Health. As customers look to improve productivity and efficiency, they will be seeking an ally who can improve productivity and accelerate timelines across a broad range of therapy areas and in multiple geographies.”
Gillian Corken, CEO of Quintiles Africa, comments: “Like other non-traditional regions before it, Africa will become an important geography for us to reach large populations of patients for a range of therapy areas including oncology and cardiovascular. Our experience in Ghana has enabled us to effectively scale across the continent using the same procedures among the local talent and expertise.”
