HP Customers Increase Productivity, Accelerate Workflows with HP Managed Print
Services
HP recognized as a leader in managed print services by independent research
firm
PALO ALTO, Calif., May 14, 2012

HP today announced that a growing list of organizations, including Office
Depot, Pace University and Global Experience Specialists Inc., are choosing HP
Managed Print Services (MPS) to streamline information workflows and manage
their printing infrastructures.
The company also announced it has secured a leader position in the recent "The
Forrester Wave': Managed Print Services, Q2 2012" report.^(1)
Among the criteria cited by Forrester that led to HP's MPS leader position were
global delivery, mobile solutions, print policy software, and support for
enterprise engagements and information technology outsourcing.
HP MPS increases profit margins and enables new initiatives
Office Depot, a leading global provider of office supplies and services,
strives to meet customer demand and stay ahead of market trends. Recently,
internal demand for the printing of posters, banners and other large-format
items rose 30 percent. To make the most of this opportunity, Office Depot
needed a more efficient way to monitor printer devices across multiple
locations, track their usage and manage the supplies.
"With HP Managed Print Services, HP provided HP's Designjet Z2100 Photo Printer
series, HP Web Jetadmin software and a constant inventory of fresh ink
supplies, which helped us streamline the management of our fleet nationwide,
and gain visibility into billing and insight into usage analytics," said
Colleen Fitz-Gerald, senior manager, Fleet Operations, Office Depot. "The
streamlined management allowed Office Depot to increase profit margins and
enabled new marketing initiatives to help grow our business."
HP MPS improves manageability and reliability; reduces environmental impact and
costs
Pace University, a private university in New York, was challenged to meet
growing printing needs for 13,000 students across three campuses. Students
printed more than needed because free printing, including a cover sheet with
every print job, was unlimited. Added to that were unreliable printers that
were difficult to manage and properly supply to meet student demands.
HP Managed Print Services helped improve the reliability of printers, provided
the flexibility to print from multiple locations, and added capabilities such
as copying and scan-to-email. With the HP Controlled Print solution and the
availability of toner at reduced cost, the university was able to set a
reasonable price for student printing and reduce paper waste by at least
100,000 sheets per semester.^(2)
"Pace University is very excited about the advantages this print solution has
provided. It has enhanced the way we deliver our printing services," says Tom
Hull, chief information officer, IT Services, Pace University. "HP effectively
manages every aspect of our printing needs, which allows internal IT resources
to be refocused on other strategic-business issues."
Accelerated workflow simplifies print management for increased savings
Global Experience Specialists Inc. (GES), a leader in exhibition, event and
retail marketing services, wanted a print management solution that would reduce
printing costs, manage its print infrastructure end to end and improve its
document workflow to boost business productivity.
"HP MPS helped consolidate our devices by almost two-thirds, while providing
new capabilities, including scan-to-email, network faxing and more. By moving
to the HP LaserJet M4345, HP LaserJet M9050 and HP LaserJet M3035xs
multifunction printers, GES' U.S. division was able to cut printing costs while
increasing the availability up-time of our print fleet to over 97 percent,"
said George Hines, chief information officer for Viad Corp, GES' parent
company. "HP's ability to scale the MPS solution to meet GES' changing needs
was a key differentiator. HP delivered the benefits we expected and gave us
the flexibility to tailor the program to our unique needs. Based on our initial
success with HP MPS, we're actively extending the solution."
Additional information about how businesses can benefit from HP Managed Print
Services will be provided at HP's premier client event, HP Discover, taking
