The purpose of this site is to provide a reference for
journalists who seek to use the Internet both as a research tool as well as a new medium for reporting and publishing on topics related to the process of European integration.
We hope to maintain and increase the quality of these pages by implementing any suggestions you may have, such as additional sources or suggestions for navigation and functionality.
We have tried to structure the collected sources on European integration by identifying five groups of forces in transnational European society. Each of these power, pressure, interest or otherwise influencing groups are addressed to on a separate page.
The 'Politica' page refers to Descartes' trias politica and provides a collection of Internet sources to the supranational European legislative, executive and judiciary powers. In European Union terms, it's a reference to the European institutions as well as to the governmental bodies of the Union's Member States.
The 'Industry' page leads to Internet sources on the European industry and their lobby groups, or topics involving industrial interests.
The 'NGOs' page leads to Internet sources on non-governmental bodies influencing developments in the European Union and the process of European integration. Industrial lobby groups are not included in this page.
The 'Academia' page leads to Internet sources of science, research and education involving the process of European integration.
The 'Media' page leads to Internet sources of the international media reporting about and featuring topics related to European integration.
A European Civil Society?
Perhaps it would have been appropriate to dedicate one page to the possible emergence of the pan-European, or European Union-wide civil society. However, we have found it rather difficult to identify the presence of such emerging civil society on the Internet.
For the time being, we will try to categorize any sources to this topic with the other five pages.
Indexes and search engines
Finally, on this page we have collected some general indexes to European issues.
